In order to acquire and improve our knowledge and skills, we continuously participate in different learning activities. Only by remaining critical of our own capacities, are we able to keep up with the rapid changes in software development and build solutions for the business challenges our customers face.
In reading groups we select an interesting book. We then read the book at home and discuss it during office hours, in increments of a few chapters each time.
We have a monthly knowledge sharing afternoon. All Kunlaborants participate and contribute. The agenda is defined together and covers time slots for ex cathedra knowledge sharing, hands-on sessions or brainstorm sessions on technologies, code best practices, Kunlabora organisation and self-improvement. We also make time for fun activities to energize between sessions.
We frequently organise short code katas and hackathons to improve our coding skills and to experiment in new domains or with new technologies.
We want to tap into the power of experimenting and regularly conduct small or larger experiments, e.g. with new tools, on Kunlabora organisational concerns, or on (fun) ideas we want to try out. You may remember our reward system experiments from previous blogs. Yoga experiments are also welcomed.
To keep up with relevant topics we immerse ourselves in (and also host) several meetups like LeanCoffee and Socrates. In 2019 we launched a new tradition with our Kunlaboratorium.
We take external trainings and attend conferences.

We build knowledge both through studying theory, and through hands-on practice in applying what we learned.
Our focus is not only on our own sphere of interest, but also new domains with a potential of adding value to our customers and projects. We invest in various domains: hard core technical topics, soft skills, analysis techniques, etc…

We are organizing a Kunlaboratorium every two months and dive deep into a specific subject or skill. Through interactive workshops and talks, each of us can gain insights, pick up new skills, and even discover new and exciting ideas/technologies/ways of working.
